Seizing the moment

When Joshua and the children of Israel were about to go into Jericho, God gave multiple instructions about what to do such as: pick 12 stones from the middle of the Jordan after it was parted and they had crossed over as a memorial, circumcise the children of Israel since the older generation who had been circumcised were now dead etc. Sequel to these, when Joshua got near Jericho, a man appeared with a sword in hand. This time, there was no instruction but Joshua was sensitive enough to engage the man only to realize this was ‘the commander of the Lord’s army’. Given that they were about to go into battle, that was a significant encounter – and I might add one that could have made or marred the battle depending on Joshua’s response to that encounter. It was after this encounter that Joshua got the instruction on how to bring down the walls of Jericho by going round the city. 

How sensitive are you to know the opportunities that come your way that will activate the fulfillment of God’s promises in your life? Do you make light of the things of the spirit to the point where you no longer see even the things starring you right in the face?

Today, my prayer is that you will be alert, discerning and prepared for every opportunity that comes your way. As you continually spend time cultivating a closer relationship with your heavenly father, your eyes will be opened to identify opportunities that you should take and know what to say and do to leverage them for the fulfillment of your God given dreams.
